Our Program only accepts ERAS applications -
paper applications will not be accepted. It is usually to the candidate’s
advantage to make an early application, thus ensuring that all materials in
support of the application are made available to the Selection Committee before
the application deadline of November 30th. Our Program fills two categorical
positions through the National Residency Program (NRMP); therefore, you must be
registered with them. Any applications not received by the deadline will not be
reviewed nor will you be considered for an interview. All applications must meet
these criteria and have the required documents:
- ERAS application.
- Dean’s Letter & Transcripts.
- Three Letters of recommendation.
- Personal Statement (include educational
plans and specialty).
- USMLE/COMLEX Score(s): 85 and above
on all parts taken (first attempt only).
- Applicants should have graduated from
medical school within three years prior to applying.
- The Hospital does not sponsor any type of
immigration Visas.
- All IMG’s applying to the Program needs to
have a California Medical Board Applicant Evaluation Status Letter or
indicate to us that it is being processed – you cannot commence residency in
California without this letter.
- All IMG’s applying to the Program should
have a valid ECFMG Certificate or indicate to us that it is being processed
– you cannot commence residency without this certificate.
Interview Process
Our Surgery Residency Program has 2 first-year categorical positions available
each academic year. The Selection Committee reviews the applications. Interviews
are granted by invitation only. Interviews will be conducted approximately from
mid-November through mid-January. We will try to schedule this interview with
the applicant's convenience in mind. Applicants will be notified of the Matching
Program results (NRMP) in early spring of the year preceding postgraduate
training, to begin late June.
